Operation Phantom Fury
The Battle to Take Fallujah
City Centre
The the tactics used to take the city centre are dangerous but extremely rapid. The fighting lead many comentators to note that Operation Phantom Fury may have had the most fierce firce fighting since the Vietnam War.
The overall tactics are displayed on the following graphic, which shows clearly how US and Iraqi Forces travel south building by building, taking key objectives like the Police Station and Mosques as they go. US Marine estimates released on Nov 15 2004 say that by then only 1300 Insurgents remain in the City and are all located in the southern residential parts
of the city. The joint US and Iraqi forces would push south till they met more US troops waiting on the most southern parts of Fallujah.
